Playing for the Minnesota Vikings in 2025 was a dream come true for veteran quarterback Carson Wentz. Unfortunately, Wentz's first season with the Vikings only lasted until Week 8 thanks to an injured shoulder that forced him to miss the team's remaining 10 games.

Earlier this year, the veteran quarterback re-signed with Minnesota for another season to be the backup behind Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy on the team's depth chart.

In a recent interview with KFYR-TV's Luke Gamble, Wentz shared an update on the status of his injured shoulder, and it sounds like he should be able to participate in the Vikings' upcoming OTAs.

"Physically, I feel great. Shoulder's more or less behind me now. It wasn't fun by any means, but surgery went well, and rehab's gone really well too. So for me, it's behind me.

I'm healthy, and I'll be ready to roll."

Wentz's first appearance with Minnesota last season was a memorable one, not only because the Vikings cruised to a 48-10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, but because he was able to fulfill a dream to play for the team that he grew up rooting for when he was a kid in Bismarck, North Dakota.

He also put up solid numbers in the victory, with a 70 percent completion rate (14-for-20), 173 passing yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.

The other four games that Wentz started in place of an injured McCarthy definitely weren't as fun as the first one.

Minnesota lost three of Wentz's final four starts under center as he threw four touchdowns and five interceptions, got sacked 16 times, and posted a miserable quarterback rating of 79.9.

After some chatter about possibly playing elsewhere for the 2026 season, Wentz eventually agreed to a new 1-year contract with the Vikings worth $3 million. Clearly, that's not starter money, but at this point in his NFL career, Wentz is probably happy to just play for a team that's closer to his family.
