The NFL offseason is in full effect, and important dates are approaching. The Minnesota Vikings have taken advantage of free agency, and the 2025 NFL Draft is right around the corner.
Those exciting dates are great, but there is another date that fans might be interested in knowing.
Assembling a great roster for the upcoming season is important. Fans already know who the Vikings' opponents will be in 2025 and whether they will be home or road contests, but it isn't known when those games will take place.
The wait probably won't be much longer for the release of the 2025 Minnesota Vikings schedule
Schedules aren't usually officially released until the middle of May, and that appears to be the case once again in 2025. John Breech of CBS Sports recently shared an article with three possible release dates.
Mike North, the NFL's vice president of broadcast planning, appeared on the It's Always Gameday in Buffalo podcast. During the conversation, he was asked about the schedules and whether a date for their release was planned.
"Somewhere in the May 13, 14, or 15 range is probably still our target."
Last year, the official release happened on Wednesday, May 15, with sports media channels having special programs devoted to announcing games. If they wanted to do it on a Wednesday again, they would likely target May 14.
However, having that plan in place does not assure it will happen in the middle of May. North added that if the schedules are complete and approved before then, they could decide to hold the release sooner.
"No set date because, really, you never know. If by some miracle, we're done on May 7 and we present one to the boss [Roger Goodell] and the commissioner says, 'Hey, this is perfect, I wouldn't change a thing, guys.' We're done. Pencils down. If so, probably no reason to sit on it.
Schedule releases are great for planning trips to watch games live. For those who like to be on top of their NFL game watching, knowing the dates and locations of games can help to make sure fans will be able to attend each contest.
The Minnesota Vikings are scheduled for eight home games and nine road games this season. At the time of this publishing, it isn't known if the purple and gold will be chosen to play in one of the international games, but it shouldn't be too much longer until fans know more about the schedule.
