It didn't take long for former Minnesota Vikings offensive line coach Chris Kuper to land a new job in the NFL, as he reportedly landed the same role with the Philadelphia Eagles, according to NFL Media's Tom Pelissero on Monday.

Kuper was hired by the Vikings in 2022 as part of Kevin O'Connell's original staff, and this year, the team decided not to renew his contract.

Now, he'll head to Philadelphia to replace their longtime offensive line coach, Jeff Stoutland, who stepped down from his role last week after spending the last 13 seasons with the team.

Former Minnesota Vikings coach Chris Kuper has huge shoes to fill with Philadelphia Eagles

After joining the Eagles in 2013, Stoutland transformed the team's offensive line into one of the best in the league, year after year after year. During the final eight seasons of his tenure with Philadelphia, he was also the team's run game coordinator.

Kuper will now work with another former member of the Vikings, Sean Mannion, who was recently hired to be the Eagles' new offensive coordinator. Mannion was a quarterback with Minnesota in 2022 and 2023 when Kuper was coaching the Vikings' offensive line.

During his tenure with Minnesota, the team's offensive line wasn't exactly what one would describe as "good." But it could definitely be argued that some of the struggles of the Vikings' offensive line in the last few years were out of Kuper's control.

The offensive scheme run by Minnesota head coach Kevin O'Connell requires his offensive line to pass block longer than many other offenses around the NFL do. Even an offensive line full of All-Pros would eventually struggle with how long a quarterback has to hold onto the ball in O'Connell's offense.

Kuper also had to deal with the Vikings' offensive line being decimated by injuries. Minnesota lost left tackle Christian Darrisaw to a torn ACL in the middle of the 2024 season, and in 2025, the team used more than 20 different starting offensive line combinations due to multiple players dealing with injuries.

Perhaps things will head in a better direction for Kuper with a different team, but regardless, he's going to have some giant expectations next season as the guy replacing Stoutland.
