Football is a complicated game. While many Minnesota Vikings fans can be astute while watching games to determine who played well and who struggled, others are left wondering why things happened the way they did in a game.

For many, sites like Pro Football Focus are great for grasping how a player is performing. Their scoring metric out of 100 has been used many times when evaluating players, but how accurate are those scores?

A former Minnesota Vikings offensive lineman was vocal about his criticism of Pro Football Focus.

Pro Football Focus doesn't have an easy job. The difference between a solid play and a questionable one in the trenches can come down to a matter of opinion, while not knowing the exact calls and schemes called by the teams.

Recently, former Minnesota Vikings offensive lineman Jeremiah Sirles shared a post on X where he not only questioned PFF's metrics but called the evaluation website a "joke" and cited a questionable situation without giving specifics.

Fans should not look at PFF scores as the best way to evaluate a player. Although they typically do a good job at recognizing good play from poor play, there are instances where a questionable grade is given to a player who seemed to have a good day.

Jeremiah Sires retired from the NFL in 2020. He was with the Vikings from 2015 to 2017, where he played guard after being an undrafted free agent of the Chargers following the 2014 NFL Draft. These days, the former blocker is part of the One West Sports Group, where he is an agent.

Although Sirles didn't name any names in his post, it is probably safe to assume that his frustration with PFF has something to do with an individual he is connected to or manages. A poor score from an evaluation website could negatively impact a player's ability to negotiate a contract or sign with a team as a free agent.

For that reason, it is important to look at more than just a player's PFF grade when evaluating them. Although it is a good resource and is used on broadcasts such as Sunday Night Football, it shouldn't be the bottom line when determining a player's value.

Minnesota Vikings fans need to remember how complicated it can be to determine wins and losses in the trenches of a football game and not count exclusively on Pro Football Focus to help them make those evaluations.
