First Vikings injury report for Week 12 reveals a new Sam Darnold injury
By Adam Patrick
So far this season, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold has been able to appear in all 10 of the team's games. This isn't to say that Darnold hasn't been on the receiving end of some brutal hits a few times this year, but nothing has caused him to come off of the field for more than a play or two.
Minnesota's starting quarterback is expected to start for the team's upcoming Week 12 matchup with the Chicago Bears, but that didn't prevent him from being listed on the Vikings' injury reports this week. On Wednesday, Darnold was listed as a limited participant in Minnesota's practice due to a foot injury.
Sam Darnold not the only notable name on the first Minnesota Vikings injury report for Week 12 vs. the Chicago Bears
Along with Darnold, running back Aaron Jones and tight end Josh Oliver were among the six players listed by the Vikings on the team's first injury report of the week.
Jones has been dealing with injured ribs since Minnesota's Week 10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he was able to get in a full practice on Wednesday, and that's a good sign for his availability against the Bears this weekend.
As for Oliver, injuries to his wrist and ankle forced him to be the only Vikings player to sit out the team's practice on Wednesday. He will be someone to keep an eye on leading up to Sunday's contest as he's quietly emerged as another option in the passing game for Minnesota during the last few weeks.
Veteran running back D'Andre Swift sitting out Wednesday's practice with an injured groin was probably the most notable part of Chicago's first injury report of the week. Swift is the Bears' leading rusher this season, and it would be a huge loss for their offense if he is unable to suit up against the Vikings on Sunday.
