Former Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook has been a member of the Dallas Cowboys since before the start of the 2024 regular season. However, it took until the Cowboys's Week 8 matchup for Cook to actually get some snaps in a game this season.

So, after weeks of waiting for an opportunity, the veteran running back made his first-ever appearance in a Dallas uniform during the team's loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

The Cowboys and Cook only ended up losing to the 49ers by six points, but perhaps the results could have turned out differently had the former Vikings running back been able to make more of an impact.

Former Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook rushes for less than 20 yards in Dallas Cowboys debut

Heading into Week 8, Dallas had arguably the NFL's worst rushing attack, with a ranking of 32nd in the league in yards per rush attempt. By adding Cook to the active roster for Sunday's contest, the Cowboys were hoping he was going to provide some sort of spark for the team's underwhelming offensive backfield.

However, in the loss to San Francisco, the multi-time Pro Bowl only wound up proving, once again, that his career in the league is nearing the end.

During his Cowboys debut on Sunday, Cook rushed for only 12 yards on six carries, and he also caught one pass for 10 yards. So, he ended up averaging a little more than three yards per touch in the loss to the 49ers. Not exactly the spark Dallas was hoping for from him.

Many Cowboys fans had been wondering for the last few weeks why the team wasn't utilizing Cook when their rushing attack was so ineffective. Well, after the former Minnesota running back's lackluster performance on Sunday, these Dallas fans now know why the team was so hesitant to get him out on the field this season
