In his first season away from the Minnesota Vikings since entering the NFL in 2020, things haven't exactly been enjoyable for veteran wide receiver K.J. Osborn as a member of the New England Patriots this year.
Osborn has actually been on the field for 63 percent of the Patriots' offensive snaps this season, but he's only caught a total of seven passes for 57 yards and a touchdown in five appearances.
On Wednesday, he took some time to speak with a few members of the local New England media, and he certainly made his feelings about his role this season very clear.
Former Minnesota Vikings WR K.J. Osborn having a "frustrating" time with the New England Patriots
With this season's trade deadline coming up, Osborn was, unsurprisingly, asked if he wants the Patriots to trade him to another team in the near future.
"This is where I am. This is the place that I signed to be. A lot of things are out of my control. But I like to be where my feet are. Today, I’m here. Will just kind of rock with it as it goes.”
Then the former Minnesota wide receiver was asked if he has been frustrated at all this year by the Patroits' emphasis on only playing some of their younger players.
"It’s extremely difficult. It’s frustrating. A lot of that stuff is not in my control…
The organization is going to do what’s best for them. Or I would say for us."
During his time with the Vikings, Osborn was able to put together three solid seasons with at least 48 catches, 540 yards, and three touchdowns. But now, it seems like he's a bit of an afterthought in New England.
Like some of the recent former Minnesota players who have left the team and signed elsewhere during the last few years, Osborn has quickly realized that the grass definitely isn't greener outside of the Vikings locker room.
