By now, Minnesota Vikings fans have to be tired of hearing about how the team is one of the possible destinations for quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the 2025 NFL season. A decision should be made in the next few days but even the rumor of him wanting to wear purple and gold has everyone talking.

The New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers are being reported as teams that would love for the former New York Jets and Green Bay Packers passer. However, it is also rumored that Rodgers would prefer to play for the Vikings.

Despite Aaron Rodgers being a lock for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, there are many who aren't on board with him signing with Minnesota this offseason. One former Minnesota Vikings player had a strong take on the possibility of Rodgers joining the team.

Former Minnesota Vikings player gets brutally honest about the Aaron Rodgers rumors

Former Minnesota Vikings offensive lineman Jeremiah Sirles spoke about the team's quarterback situation on a recent episode of The OLine Committee: NFL Offensive Lineman Podcast. during the conversation, he made a powerful statement about what Aaron Rodgers could do in 2025.

"Correct me if I’m wrong, he only had three 300-yard passing games [last season]. That’s not going to do it, and let’s not pretend like he was throwing to dog s**t. Garrett Wilson, very good wide receiver. Davante Adams, when he showed up, very good wide receiver. Breece Hall was supposed to be a top-five running back, right? But once [Rodgers] showed up in that building, things went south. They just did."

Aaron Rodgers had a strong finish to the 2024 season, but those performances were when nothing was on the line for the Jets. His team won five games and those victories came against the Titans, Patriots, Texans, Jaguars, and Dolphins. Plus, he only had one 300-yard passing game last season and that happened in a Week 13 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

The question of what Aaron Rodgers still has left in the gas tank is valid. At 41 years old, he would be entering his 21st year in the NFL. Plus, his arrival in Minnesota would impact the situation involving the Vikings' young quarterback.

"…I don’t know if Aaron Rodgers is that guy [who can be that missing piece] anymore. I don’t, and I’m not willing to bring him in and rattle my top-10 drafted quarterback to [find out]."

J.J. McCarthy is recovering from a knee injury and hopes to be ready for the 2025 NFL season. Signing Aaron Rodgers would mean putting his debut on hold while the Minnesota Vikings go from seeing what they have in a young quarterback to going Super Bowl or bust with a veteran in the twilight of his career.

The Minnesota Vikings need to add a veteran quarterback to their roster, but that player does not need to be Aaron Rodgers. Of course, that doesn't mean it won't be, but at least the team has options for the 2025 NFL season.
