Before he played three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, quarterback Warren Moon spent the first 10 years of his Hall of Fame NFL career as a member of the Tennessee Titans franchise when they were previously known as the Houston Oilers. On Friday, Moon welcomed the organization's newest quarterback, Cam Ward, with an incredible gesture.

At the University of Miami last season, Ward wore the No. 1 on his jersey, and after he landed with Tennessee in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday, most assumed he would have to pick a new number since the franchise retired the No. 1 jersey in 2006 to honor Moon.

Well, on Friday, Moon and the Titans made the amazing decision to unretire No. 1, so that Ward can begin his career in the NFL next season with the number on his jersey. Tennessee was even kind enough to post a video (here) of the moment that showed the former Vikings quarterback surprising Ward with the awesome news.

While Moon performed well in his three seasons with Minnesota, what he was able to do during his tenure with the Oilers is ultimately why he ended up earning a bronze bust in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Moon currently holds the Titans' franchise records for passing yards (33,685) and passing touchdowns (196), and it's safe to say that Tennessee would have no problem at all if Ward ended up breaking both of those impressive records.

After the Will Levis experiment fell flat on its face last season, Titans fans are hoping Ward can be the guy to turn the franchise around and help it return to challenging for the top of the AFC South each and every season.

Tennessee's newest quarterback already has Moon in his corner, so he's off to a good start.
