The Minnesota Vikings are off and running, making some serious moves in NFL free agency.
Most notably, the Vikings have invested heavily in the trenches on both sides of the ball.
Offensively speaking, that has to be great news for quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who figures to take over as the franchise quarterback now that Sam Darnold is officially gone.
Yet, there are some who have wondered whether the Vikings could make sense for an aging veteran and former rival. Might Aaron Rodgers be interested in coming to Minnesota? What in the world would that mean for McCarthy?
A former NFL quarterback, now analyst, Dan Orlovsky, recently sent a very stern and public warning to the Vikings in reference to the Rodgers rumors.
Dan Orlovsky warned the Vikings about bringing in Aaron Rodgers
"That would be a mistake by the Minnesota Vikings," Orlovsky said on ESPN's Get Up. "Minnesota, you've made the determination to allow Sam Darnold to go. You've now declared this is more than likely J.J. McCarthy's football team."
Orlovsky went on to point out exactly what all NFL fans know to be true. It's been proven countless times.
Rodgers brings a whole lot more with him than most players do.
"Aaron (Rodgers) comes with a lot. Whether people like it or not. It's a lot. Do not bring that into your building. Do not bring that into your football team.
"You are handing the keys over to a young player and saying, 'this is going to be your opportunity. Lead us forward.' And bringing Aaron Rodgers in is going to hinder that in some capacity; stunt that in some capacity," he finished.
Most Vikings fans probably can't help but agree, here. Sure, the Brett Favre years gave us some good memories. But, Rodgers is a different beast altogether.
Orlovsky is right. Rodgers brings much more than just his on-field skills with him. He brings an entire attitude and entitlement, and the Vikings locker room doesn't need something like that.
Minnesota has done a fantastic job establishing the culture within this team. The last thing they need is a guy like Rodgers coming in and trying to make it his own.
