Former Vikings starter opens up about a possible return to Minnesota this season
By Adam Carlson
It's a good time to be a Minnesota Vikings fan. The team is off to a 5-0 start, the offense is putting points on the board, and the defense is getting after opposing quarterbacks at an alarming rate this season.
The Vikings still have 12 games remaining this season, but their success so far has many experts and analysts talking. When a team does well and has a great team environment, it becomes a hot destination for potential free agents.
Former Vikings starter opens up about a possible return to Minnesota this season
Recently, a former starting defensive back for the Vikings discussed the possibility of returning to the team this season. In a recent interview with Infinity Sports Network’s Zach Gelb, free-agent CB Patrick Peterson said he would like to be back with the purple and gold this season.
At 34 years old, Peterson might not be the player he once was, but the former Cardinals, Vikings, and Steelers defender has a lot of experience and could provide even more depth for Minnesota's secondary.
Peterson was asked by Gelb if he was done playing. He was also asked what would happen if Minnesota called him up and inquired about his availability.
"I'm still leaving the book open, Zach. I'm still training. I'm still working out because my mind is still in it. It's not like I cannot physically play or I feel like I can't physically give my best. I feel like I still have, you know, enough in my tank to help a team win but that decision is out of my hands."

Peterson would be an interesting addition to a Vikings defense that already has a solid mix of experience and youth. He would be a great option if something happens and one of their contributors is sidelined for an extended period.
Gelb stated that he would like to see Peterson return to Minnesota and the veteran defender seemed very open to the concept.
"I would like to be there too, man. I love the coaching staff there. Coach Kevin had an opportunity to build a solid relationship over the nine months that I was with him and it's just a great feel and a great organization to be around. Great guys to be around and show up to work with every day. "

Peterson is currently an unrestricted free agent and is free to sign wherever he pleases. Don't be surprised if he ends up on a team's roster before the season is over, whether it is the Minnesota Vikings or another team.
