For the first time this season, the Minnesota Vikings will be starting a game in the late-afternoon time slot when they take on the Seattle Seahawks in a Week 16 NFC showdown on Sunday.

Aside from the early morning start time of their contest over in London in Week 5, every other contest on Minnesota's schedule this year has either begun at 12 p.m. CST or in primetime on a Sunday, Monday, or Thursday evening.

The Vikings have played two late-afternoon games on the road since Kevin O'Connell became the team's head coach in 2022, and they have a 1-1 record in those two matchups, with their lone win coming in Week 14 last season when they defeated the Las Vegas Raiders by a final score of 3-0.

Location: Lumen Field
Kickoff Time: 3:05 p.m. CST
All-time Series Record: Seahawks lead 12-6 (including the playoffs)

It's been a long time since the Vikings were able to leave the Seahawks' home stadium with a victory. Minnesota's last win in Seattle took place all the way back in Week 7 of the 2006 season when the Vikings cruised to an easy 31-13 victory.

Since that win, Minnesota has lost five straight times in Seattle. However, none of those matchups took place with O'Connell as the Vikings head coach, so perhaps, with him calling the shots on the sideline this weekend, it will result in a different outcome for the purple and gold.
