In addition to all of the discussions about J.J. McCarthy, plenty of chatter about the Minnesota Vikings since the start of the 2025 season has been centered around their decisions to move on from Daniel Jones and Sam Darnold earlier this year, especially given how well both veteran quarterbacks had played heading into Week 9.

Well, after Sunday, the Vikings and their fans should at least feel better about letting Jones walk out the door to sign with the Indianapolis Colts this past offseason.

In the Colts' Week 9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jones looked more like the perplexing version of himself that existed more in the early part of his NFL career when he was a member of the New York Giants.

During the loss to the Steelers, the former Minnesota quarterback completed 62 percent of his passes (31-of-50) for 342 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions.

In addition to tossing a trio of picks on Sunday, Jones also lost two fumbles, meaning he turned the ball over a whopping five times in the contest.

His performance against Pittsburgh was easily his worst of the 2025 season so far, but his play was a reminder of how people shouldn't be so quick to make conclusions about the Vikings making a mistake for not re-signing him in the offseason.

Overall, Jones has performed very well in his first year as Indianapolis's starting quarterback. But on Sunday, he proved that he can still be rattled by an opponent that has a solid defense.

Jones' performance in Week 9 also just happened to take place on the same day in which McCarthy returned to the field for the first time in five games to lead Minnesota to an upset win over the Detroit Lions, which made the Vikings' offseason quarterback decisions look a whole lot better than they did even just a week ago.
