It took one drive for Cam Bynum to send a loud message back to Minnesota

This past offseason, the Minnesota Vikings decided to let Camryn Bynum hit the free-agent market, and it ultimately resulted in the veteran safety signing a lucrative contract with the Indianapolis Colts.

As the Vikings continue to prepare for their Week 1 matchup against the Chicago Bears, Bynum made his regular-season debut for the Colts on Sunday in a matchup against the Miami Dolphins, and during his very first drive with his new team, he came up with a difference-making interception.

Following his interception, of course, the former Vikings safety had to break out a creative celebration, something he became known for during his time in purple and gold.

With Bynum's quick start in Week 1, it will be interesting to see how Theo Jackson performs for Minnesota on Monday. Earlier this year, the Vikings re-signed Jackson to an affordable deal with the hope that he can help fill the void left by Bynum.

Jackson is someone Minnesota has been developing for a bit now, so hopefully he can prove the team right with a good performance against the Bears in Week 1.

If he doesn't, then some doubts will certainly be raised about the Vikings' decision to move on from Bynum in the offseason, especially with this potentially being the final year in the NFL for longtime Minnesota safety Harrison Smith.

But the Vikings just clearly didn't think Bynum was worth the amount of money he ended up getting from Indianapolis this offseason. Minnesota probably would have loved to bring him back, but the Colts gave him a contract worth $15 million per season, and that was obviously way more than the Vikings wanted to give a safety who has never been voted to a Pro Bowl.

At the same time, Week 1 is the most unpredictable week in the NFL season every year, so perhaps Bynum's performance on Sunday won't be replicated again in 2025. So far, though, it's completely fair for Minnesota fans to question the team's choice to let him walk in free agency this offseason.
