Despite the fact that he took the field last Sunday against the Detroit Lions, some have still been wondering about Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones playing in the team's Week 8 primetime matchup on Thursday against the Los Angeles Rams.

Well, the Vikings made the answer to that question very clear on Wednesday when they released the team's final injury report of the week and Jones wasn't given an injury designation for Thursday's game.

So, when Minnesota takes the field inside SoFi Stadium on Thursday, Jones will indeed be playing for the purple and gold in their attempt to get a win over the Rams.

Minnesota Vikings RB Aaron Jones to play in Week 8 vs. Los Angeles Rams

The Vikings having their top running back on the field will certainly help their chances of coming away with a victory in Los Angeles on Thursday. Jones has been one of Minnesota's top offensive performers so far this season.

In his six games with the Vikings this year, he's rushed for 443 yards (5.2 per carry) and two touchdowns, in addition to also catching 20 passes for 190 yards and another score. Jones also has the third-best PFF offensive grade among qualifying NFL running backs heading into Week 8.

He's been just about everything Minnesota could have hoped for when they signed him back in March. Jones's contract is set to expire at the end of the season, but if he keeps performing at a high level as he currently is, don't be surprised if the Vikings do whatever they can to re-sign him before he hits the free-agent market.

On Thursday, Minnesota's top running back will be going up against a Rams defense that is one of the worst units in the league this season at stopping the run.

Heading into Week 8, Los Angeles ranks 25th in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per carry, and they have allowed all six of their opponents this year to rush for at least 120 yards.

The matchup is certainly set up for Jones to have a big performance, and based on how he's played so far this season, there's no reason to expect that he won't make a significant impact for the Vikings on Thursday.
