Running back Aaron Jones left the game against the New York Jets in Week 5 with a hip injury and has been considered week-to-week for his return. The Week 6 bye brought him a little time, but his services would be welcome against a tough Detroit Lions team on Sunday.
Leading up to Week 7, the status of Jones has been up in the air. He did not practice with the team until Thursday when he became a limited participant, giving some hope that he could be ready to go in the upcoming NFC North matchup.
Full injury update for Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions
Let's take a look at the status of Aaron Jones and the rest of the Vikings roster according to the final injury report shared on the team's official website.
Minnesota Vikings
Out
Blake Cashman, linebacker - toe
Akayleb Evans, cornerback - hip
Questionable
Aaron Jones, running back - hamsting
Patrick Jones II, edge - shoulder
Harrison Phillips, defensive line - shoulder
Tight end T.J. Hockenson and offensive lineman Dalton Risner were both questionable on the final injury report despite still in the practice window from activation from injured reserve. Otherwise, no other players from the Vikings received a designation.
Detroit Lions
The injury report for the Lions is relatively short, but doesn't tell the whole story for Detroit. Last week against the Cowboys, star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson suffered a gruesome broken leg and has been placed on injured reserve.
Out
Christian Mahogany, offensive line - illness
Questionable
Carlton Davis III, cornerback - quadriceps
Kevin Zeitler, guard - groin
Kevin Zeitler is the starting right guard for the Lions. If he is unable to go, that could be a big loss for one of the best blocking units in the league. Carlton Davis is also a starter and has defended five passes in five games.
Aaron Jones' status
Being questionable is a good sign that Aaron Jones could be good to go for Sunday. His improving status throughout the week is highly encouraging. If he is active against Detroit, Minnesota's odds of winning should increase as he is an important part of the Vikings' rushing attack.
About 12 hours before the game Star Tribune beat writer Ben Goessling shared on X that Minnesota's starting running back is expected to play against the Lions unless there is an issue with his hamstring on Sunday morning.
Don't miss an important NFC North matchup on Sunday when the Minnesota Vikings host the Detroit Lions. The winner of this game will sit on top of the division and should be considered the team to beat in the conference.
