Fans of the Minnesota Vikings are a passionate group of people who like to incorporate as much purple and gold into their lives as possible. That extends to when fantasy football starts and the urge to make "homer" picks during the draft becomes overwhelming.

There aren't a ton of great names on the Vikings roster for fantasy foorball fans. Of course, superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson will be an early selection at your draft, but any other pick is likely to be a backup or depth choice.

That's not to say that someone like Jordan Addison, Juaun Jennings, Aaron Jones, or T.J. Hockenson doesn't have value to have on their roster, but those players likely won't be early or mid-round selections at your draft.

Fantasy football managers who put Minnesota Vikings running back Jordan Mason on their roster for the 2026 NFL season are preparing for a great season.

Casual football fans will see Aaron Jones listed above Jordan Mason on the Minnesota Vikings depth chart and think that he is the running back to own in that backfield. However, there are plenty of reasons to think Mason is the one to get on your roster.

Recently, FanSided's Justin Carter assembled a list of early fantasy football sleepers, and Jordan Mason not only made the list but was featured in the image for the article that was published on Saturday.

Here is what Carter had to say about Mason as a fantasy football option:

"Jones is a year older. He has over 1,500 career carries. He missed time last year with a variety of injuries. And he's backed up by one of, IMO, one of the best backup running backs in the league. This is a situation where fantasy managers could get a massive reward if the Vikings end up using Mason as the starting running back at some point."

This is a completely plausible situation. There is a real chance Jordan Mason could pass Aaron Jones on the running back depth chart this season, or be forced into the starting lineup if the veteran rusher is sidelined.

However, Carter warns fantasy football managers not to get too excited about Mason's potential since his game lacks one major aspect that can lead to a lot of points, especially in PPR.

"Mason had 159 carries last year, but just 16 targets. That's, uhh, a pretty big disparity, and it wasn't a result of game planning. Jones had 132 carries — fewer than Mason due to missing five games — but was still targeted 41 times. Still, in standard and even half-PPR, Mason is a great player to throw a dart at later in your fantasy draft."

If Jordan Mason can get more time on the field and become more involved in the Minnesota Vikings' passing attack, fantasy football managers will be glad they stashed this potential diamond in the rough on their rosters.
