Much like how the season ended, things didn’t totally go the Minnesota Vikings’ way at the NFL Honors on Thursday night. All of the stars were out to award the best of the best from this past season, which meant involving the Vikings more than a few times.

Most notably, Sam Darnold was nominated for Comeback Player of the Year, an award he had a pretty decent chance of winning, given the incredible season he had. That didn’t end up happening but it wasn’t a total loss as we were still gifted to an incredible moment in more ways than one in th lead-up to the award being handed out.

Justin Jefferson was the player came out to announce the NFL Comeback Player of te Year Award, which served as a bit of a cruel tease since it sort of got our hopes up that it was an indication of Darnold winning. Before we got that far, though, Jefferson ran into a little issue when the teleprompter broke right after he began to recite his introduction.

Justin Jefferson had an awkward technical difficulty moment at the NFL Honors

Rather than freeze up or get awkward, Jefferson proved he’s cool under pressure in any situation. He also proved that the only thing capable of stopping him is a literal technical difficulty.

Come on, is there anyone in the NFL cooler than Justin Jefferson? Trick question, because the answer is nobody is as cool as Jettas.

While Darnold didn’t end up winning the award, losing instead to Joe Burrow, the moment was bigger than the hardware that was being handed out. Jefferson wasn’t on stage to announce the winner, he was there to set the table for the guy who was: Randy Moss.

Before Jefferson took the stage the NFL played a touching video tribute to Moss and his battle with cancer. He wasn’t at the show, but pre-recorded his role and looked to be his peppy, swaggy old self that we’ve known and loved for his entire career.

Darnold winning would have been a nice cherry on top of the whole moment, and Jefferson cooly playing off his little technical snafu was all tertiary to seeing Moss and getting to spend a little time with him after all he’s been through.
