Like many others, Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson was impressed with how well quarterback J.J. McCarthy performed in the team's 31-0 win over the Washington Commanders last week.

On Thursday, Jefferson challenged McCarthy to take what he did against the Commanders and see if he can continue to play at a similar level moving forward.

"He's got to continue to be focused. Continue to have that consistency throughout the whole entire year and have consistent games back-to-back instead of just those one-offs, one game, and then the next game is back to the different footwork that he's been going back to and the mechanics that we've kind of fixed over time.

So it's just all about that focus and going out there with that mentality to be consistent."

Can Minnesota Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy fulfill Justin Jefferson's request?

In the win over Washington last weekend, McCarthy completed 69.6 percent of his passes for 163 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. It was the first time all season long that he didn't commit a turnover in a game.

On Sunday, McCarthy and the Vikings will be taking on a Dallas Cowboys team that has only forced 10 turnovers this year in addition to ranking dead last in the NFL in points allowed per opposing offensive drive.

Given the defense that he will be facing this weekend, Minnesota's second-year quarterback definitely has a great chance to put together another solid performance for the second week in a row, as his top receiver has requested.

This season, the Cowboys' defense has allowed opposing quarterbacks to throw for a total of 29 touchdowns, which is the most in the league. Guys like Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, Bryce Young, Bo Nix, and Jacoby Brissett all tossed multiple touchdown passes when facing Dallas's defense this year.

There are going to be plenty of opportunities for McCarthy on Sunday against the Cowboys, and if he puts together another good performance, perhaps Jefferson can have himself a night to remember as well.
