Kevin O’Connell’s feelings about Vikings’ QB situation are painfully obvious

The biggest question that Minnesota Vikings fans have heading into Week 7 is who will be under center when the team hosts the Philadelphia Eagles. The team is tight-lipped about the current quarterback situation, and it doesn't look like there will be any clarification anytime soon.

Second-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy is dealing with an ankle injury and should be close to returning to action. At the same time, Carson Wentz injured his shoulder against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 5 and is considered week-to-week.

Vikings fans have been waiting for an update on the quarterback situation in Minnesota, but will need to continue waiting since head coach Kevin O'Connell isn't about to proclaim anything about the position anytime soon.

The quarterback situation for the Minnesota Vikings heading into Week 7 is as unclear as ever.

On Wednesday, O'Connell spoke with the media. Of course, the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings was asked about McCarthy and Wenz, but seemed annoyed at having to address the quarterback issue so often.

As expected, O'Connell did not give a definitive answer to the question. Instead, he said the answer is the same as when he was asked about it on Monday. Then, he continued to say that either quarterback could be the starter on Sunday.

O'Connell also attempted to change the topic to the team's overall health following the Vikings' bye week. Although there are still plenty of banged-up players for Minnesota, it's difficult not to wonder who the team's quarterback will be against Philadelphia.

The topic changed worked, as the conversation shifted to Blake Brandel possibly playing center again, but Kevin O'Connell shut down any direct answer again and instead reminded everyone that the team is dealing with multiple injuries on the offensive line that forced several different combinations of players onto the offensive line.

The amount of coach-speak from O'Connell during his conversation with the media was high, but the Vikings coach has no reason to divulge too much information about the team's plans heading into the game against Philly.

Any questions that Minnesota Vikings fans have about the upcoming game on Sunday will likely remain unanswered until significantly closer to the Week 7 kickoff at U.S. Bank Stadium. Will it be J.J. McCarthy or Carson Wentz behind center against Philly? It appears as though the only people who know the answer to that question won't be spilling the beans anytime soon.
