When the Minnesota Vikings relieved Kwesi Adofo-Mensah of his role of general manager at the conclusion of the 2025 NFL season, the question of what would be next for the analytical mind had to be asked.

It didn't take long for Adofo-Mensah to land on his feet. Shortly after his exit from Minnesota, the San Francisco 49ers scooped him back up on February 24 and put him back into an important role, making him a personnel executive.

On Wednesday, the 49s announced multiple internal promotions as well as defined the role that the former purple and gold general manager would perform for them. That news was shared in an article by NBC Sports.

Former Minnesota Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has a new title with the San Francisco 49ers.

In a piece by Charean Williams on the NBC Sports website, it was revealed that the 44-year-old Stanford and Princeton graduate will be the vice president of personnel and strategy for the 49ers, now that his time with the Minnesota Vikings has ended.

Adofo-Mensah is no stranger to San Francisco's way of handling things. His first NFL job was with the 49ers back in 2013 when he was hired as their manager of football research & development. He was promoted in 2017 to director of football research & development before being hired as vice president of football operations for the Cleveland Browns under general manager Andrew Berry.

The Vikings held off hiring a new general manager until after the 2026 NFL Draft. This seemed odd at the time, but it helps new hire Nolan Teasley avoid having his future tied to a draft class he wasn't prepared for, much like what happened with Adofo-Mensah when he arrived in Minnesota.

Interim general manager Rob Brzezinski led the charge until Teasley took his place in the front office, and his background in scouting allows him to have a full evaluation period before the 2027 NFL Draft, so a more informed decision can be made with each selection.

It is nice to see Kwesi Adofo-Mensah land on his feet with the San Francisco 49ers. Although his time with the Minnesota Vikings came to an end, he definitely has skills that can help a team in the front office. With his new title in the NFC West, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the former NFL general manager on the West Coast.
