Less than 60 minutes after it was revealed that the Minnesota Vikings had agreed to a one-year contract with Kyler Murray, the veteran quarterback proved why he's going to fit in very well with the purple and gold fan base.

In a video conference with members of the Twin Cities media on Thursday, Murray shared that he's been a fan of the Vikings ever since he started playing tackle football when he was 7-years-old. He also dropped an incredible detail that almost all Minnesota fans can relate to.

"I cried real tears whenever Brett [Favre] threw that interception [in the 2009 NFC Championship]. I cried real tears that day."

Kyler Murray knows exactly what it's like to be a fan of the Minnesota Vikings

It's going to be a while before Vikings fans will get to see Murray actually appear in a game, but as far as first impressions go, he certainly hit it out of the park on Thursday.

It's been a wild last few months for the 28-year-old quarterback, as he missed the majority of the 2025 season due to a foot injury, then after tons of speculation, he was released by the Cardinals this past Wednesday, and less than 24 hours later he was in the TCO Performance Center in Minnesota meeting with members of the Vikings' coaching staff and front office.

Now, Murray will attempt to follow the path laid out by Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones to turn his NFL career around with the help of Minnesota head coach Kevin O'Connell.

If all goes well, the former Cardinals quarterback will help the team he grew up rooting for get back to the playoffs in 2026, and possibly even help O'Connell win a postseason game for the first time in his tenure with the Vikings.

If Murray does that, then he's not only going to make a lot of Minnesota fans happy, but he'll be rewarded with a nice addition to his bank account in 2027.
