On Sunday, undrafted rookie quarterback Max Brosmer will make the first start of his young NFL career when the Minnesota Vikings travel to take on the Seattle Seahawks.
Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell revealed this plan on Friday, and shortly after his announcement, local Twin Cities reporters were able to catch up with Brosmer.
At one point, Minnesota's rookie quarterback was asked if he's nervous about Sunday's game in Seattle, and his answer should provide Vikings fans with plenty of optimism.
"No. I think that's a good question, [though]. I think for quarterbacks, nerves versus nervous is really important [to] distinguish between. I think it's great to have nerves because that's what locks you in. But the nervous piece comes with anxiousness, and that's not me [or] this team.
I think the nerves you grow up playing from third and fourth grade [football], and you're like, 'I can't wait for game day.' I'm riding in the car with my mom to go play Saturday with the guys and the kids playing little pee-wee football, and you have those nerves. That's what makes you great.
Then you go to the NFL [and] it's the exact same thing. You have to have those nerves to play great. This team capitalizes and owns those, and that's why we have playmakers in this room to go win football games."
Bar is extremely low for Minnesota Vikings rookie QB Max Brosmer to clear on Sunday vs. Seattle Saehawks
In his six starts at quarterback for Minnesota this season, McCarthy has put up some of the worst numbers in the entire history of the NFL. So, it's not like Brosmer has to do much on Sunday to look even slightly better than what McCarthy has done in a Vikings uniform so far this season.
If Brosmer does a good job leading the offense down the field and Minnesota is able to be more successful with him leading the way this weekend, then a win over the Seahawks might not even be required in order for the Vikings to continue forward with the undrafted rookie as their starting signal-caller for the rest of the season.
The odds are still stacked against Brosmer heading into Sunday, but his approach to the game is at least doing enough to have some fans believing he can help Minnesota pull off a big upset in Seattle.
