He really didn't have much left to prove, but rookie Max Brosmer did his best in Friday's preseason finale against the Tennessee Titans to convince the Minnesota Vikings to keep him on their final 53-man roster for the upcoming 2025 season.
Brosmer was on the field for all but two of Minnesota's offensive drives on Friday, and he ended up going 15-for-23 on his throws for 161 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions to earn a 100.1 passer rating. The undrafted rookie quarterback also managed to avoid getting sacked during his time on the field with the Vikings.
In three preseason games with Minnesota this summer, Brosmer completed 60.3 percent of his passes (35-for-58) for 364 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Was it enough for Minnesota to keep him on its final 2025 roster?
Max Brosmer and the Minnesota Vikings fall to the Tennessee Titans in team's 2025 preseason finale
Despite Brosmer's impressive performance on Friday, the Vikings left the field in Tennessee with a preseason loss for the second week in a row. This time, the Titans were able to jump out to a commanding 17-3 lead early in the third quarter, and it eventually led to a 23-13 loss for Minnesota.
Thankfully, wins and losses in the preseason are completely meaningless. Instead, teams use their trio of exhibition games each year to find out which players step up the most when they have to suit up and play inside an actual NFL stadium.
This summer, Brosmer, along with running back Xavier Scott, defensive lineman Elijah Williams, and returner Myles Price, all stood out for the Vikings in their preseason matchups. Minnesota now has to decide if what these players did in training camp and the preseason was enough to keep them on the team's 53-man roster for the 2025 season.
With no more exhibition matchups or training camp practices left, the Vikings' coaches and front office staff have until Tuesday, August 26th, at 3 p.m. CST to trim their roster all the way down to 53 players.
