The Minnesota Vikings are less than two weeks away from the 2025 NFL Draft and it won't be much longer before fans know which college prospects will join the purple and gold over the course of the three-day event.
Round 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft will kick off from Green Bay, Wisconsin on Thursday, April 24. The Vikings currently own the rights to four selections over the draft's seven rounds, but that could change leading up to or during the event.
Another issue in front of Minnesota leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft is the status of wide receiver Jordan Addison. He has yet to have a punishment handed down from the league for a legal issue stemming from a charge of driving under the influence.
Addison has had legal issues involving vehicles since joining the Vikings. They would be wise to listen to offers from teams looking to trade down in the 2025 NFL Draft if those offers involve the young wide receiver who is entering the third year of his rookie deal.
Looking for a deal to keep a wide receiver on a rookie deal while moving on from Addison could interest the Vikings' front office. Here is how a trade in the first round of the draft involving Minnesota's No. 2 pass catcher could go.
Minnesota Vikings receive: No. 14 overall pick
Indianapolis Colts receive: No. 24 overall pick and WR Jordan Addison
If that trade goes through, here are the picks the Minnesota Vikings would hold in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Round 1: Pick 14 overall
Round 3: Pick 97 overall
Round 5: Pick 139 overall
Round 6: Pick 187 overall
Minnesota Vikings 2025 NFL Mock Draft with Jordan Addison traded
Pick 14 overall: Luther Burden III, WR - Missouri
Giving rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy another weapon after shipping out Jordan Addison is important. Luther Burden III is mostly known for being a slot receiver with dynamic shifty ability, reminding some folks of Deebo Samuel.
He improved his problem with drops over the course of his college career while adding a rushing attack to his game. He scored 25 touchdowns in 38 games at Missouri and could be an interesting piece in Minnesota's offense.
Pick 97 overall: Tate Ratledge, G - Georgia
Although he primarily played right guard in college, the Minnesota Vikings would be silly to pass on an interior lineman with the potential of Tate Ratledge if he falls to them in the third round to add more depth and competition to the unit.
A three-year starter who showed up big in big games, Ratledge ranked first at the combine in athleticism among those at his position despite having a six-foot-six, 308-pound frame. He could earn a starting role pretty quickly in Minnesota.
Pick 139 overall: Malachi Moore, S - Alabama
The Vikings need some help at safety. Harrison Smith returning for another season is great. Josh Metellus is set to be a Swiss army knife on defense again. But aside from those two, depth at the position is a big question mark.
Alabama safety Malachi Moore was a team captain who can play multiple spots but is at his best when dropped into coverage. He can play special teams until he is ready to take on a contributing role on defense.
Pick 187 overall: Donovan Edwards, RB - Michigan
The Minnesota Vikings don't really need a running back after re-signing Aaron Jones and trading for Jordan Mason, but there isn't much harm on taking a swing on a familiar running back in the sixth round of the draft.
Donovan Edwards doesn't have a history of production, which will make his stock fall in the draft. But he was on the national championship team with J.J. McCarthy and is a hugely athletic runner and could develop into a contributor with time and coaching.
