A day after he was waived by the Minnesota Vikings, veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen has reportedly been claimed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter on Tuesday.
Thielen will now join forces with Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is despised by the majority of the Vikings fan base following all of his battles with Minnesota when he was a member of the Green Bay Packers.
With a current record of 6-6, Pittsburgh isn't exactly guaranteed a spot in the playoffs this season. But based on pure vibes, Thielen has a much better shot at appearing in the postseason this year with the Steelers than he did if he stuck around with the Vikings for the rest of the 2025 campaign.
Former Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen lands with the Pittsburgh Steelers
With only five games left in the 2025 season, it's unclear how much of an impact Thielen might even have for Pittsburgh, especially since he's performed very poorly in his limited snaps with Minnesota this year.
In 11 appearances this season, he's only managed to catch a total of eight passes for 69 yards, in addition to flat-out dropping three of his 18 targets.
2025 has been so underwhelming for Thielen that his highlight of the season was in the Vikings ' Week 10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens when the veteran receiver got in a shouting match with game officials after he delivered an illegal blind side block.
Thielen has already said this season is going to be his final one in the NFL, and he clearly didn't want it to end with him sitting on the bench in Minnesota.
So, now he's hoping that a change of scenery to Pittsburgh will produce some better results, but based on how he's performed so far this year, Steelers fans shouldn't get their hopes up about him making any sort of difference during the next few weeks.
