Leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft, current Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams reportedly expressed a desire to end up with the Minnesota Vikings, according to a new book from ESPN's Seth Wickersham.

"I need to go to the Vikings," Williams reportedly told his father after having a great meeting with Minnesota head coach Kevin O'Connell at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine.

Also included in Wickersham's new book, "American Kings: A Biography of the Quarterback" is a quote from Williams' father saying, "Chicago is the place quarterbacks go to die." While he's not wrong, it's safe to say that Bears fans probably aren't thrilled with their current quarterback's lack of enthusiasm to play in Chicago.

Latest news about Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams is more evidence that the Kevin O'Connell is the perfect Minnesota Vikings head coach

In the middle of his fourth year with the franchise, it's amazing how quickly O'Connell has turned the Vikings into a desired landing spot for incoming prospects and current players from around the NFL.

Williams met with Minnesota's head coach once during the 2024 pre-draft process and that's all it took for him to consider doing whatever he could to land with the Vikings in last year's NFL Draft.

Obviously, Williams' dream of playing in purple and gold didn't happen, as the Bears selected him with the first overall draft pick in 2024. But this info from Wickersham's book is about to make the young quarterback's tenure in Chicago even tougher than anyone might have previously anticipated.

Meanwhile, O'Connell has been busy this offseason molding J.J. McCarthy, who Minnesota drafted nine picks after Williams in 2024.

McCarthy is expected to open the upcoming 2025 season as the Vikings' new starting quarterback, and if that happens, his first matchup will coincidentally be against Williams and the Bears.
