Against the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday, Dallas Turner made the type of play that Minnesota Vikings fans have been begging to see from him ever since the team traded up in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft to select him.

Unfortunately, the play resulted in a 15-yard penalty, and now, it has resulted in a dent in Turner's bank account.

On Saturday, it was revealed that the second-year Vikings pass rusher has been fined $17,389 for his takedown of Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson last week that drew a roughing the passer penalty.

That wasn't all, though.

Apparently, Turner executed a hip-drop tackle during the game's opening kickoff, and despite no flag being thrown for it during the matchup, the league decided to still fine the Minnesota defender another $17,389 for his action.

So, in total, Turner was fined more than $34,000 for two tackles that he made during last Sunday's loss to Baltimore, which is more than half of the $53,333 he currently makes per contest this season.

Minnesota Vikings edge rusher Dallas Turner has great opportunity to prove his worth in Week 11

Following his costly performance last weekend, Turner is heading into a great chance to redeem himself on Sunday when the Vikings host the Chicago Bears inside U.S. Bank Stadium.

Minnesota has already ruled out starting edge rusher Jonathan Greenard for the matchup due to a shoulder injury, meaning Turner will likely be making his sixth start of the year this weekend.

Turner was solid in the five games that he started this season, but he didn't do anything to convince anyone that he was worth what the Vikings gave up in 2024 to draft him. That could potentially change on Sunday, though.

Unlike the other five starts where he filled in for an injured Andrew Van Ginkel, Turner likely won't be asked to drop back into coverage as much this weekend as Greenard's replacement.

Van Ginkel is the best of Minnesota's starting edge rushing duo when it comes to pass coverage, so while he was out of action earlier this year, Turner was tasked with spending more time in pass coverage than he was probably comfortable with. This shouldn't be the case on Sunday since Van Ginkel will also be active.

Could this lead to Turner doing more of the things that everyone believed he was capable of when the Vikings used a first-round pick on him? Hopefully, the answer is yes, and he helps Minnesota get a much-needed win over the Bears on Sunday.
