Former Minnesota Vikings All-Pro linebacker Eric Kendricks has the fan base buzzing after he shared a post on his personal Instagram account on Thursday of an almost two-minute-long highlight reel of some of the plays he made during his tenure with the purple and gold.
Along with the clip, Kendricks included the caption "That’s why I am easy. My heart is always somewhere out in the grass" with his post.
After spending last season with the Dallas Cowboys, the veteran linebacker is still a free agent this year, and given how every highlight in the post he shared on Thursday featured him in a Minnesota uniform, perhaps he would like to return to the place where his NFL career began.
Should the Minnesota Vikings be interested in signing Eric Kendricks?
Kendricks has been in the league for 10 seasons, and he just turned 33-years-old in February, so his time in the NFL is certainly inching closer to the end. However, he still has plenty to offer to a team that might be interested in adding him before the 2025 season.
With the Cowboys in 2024, he accumulated a whopping 138 tackles (four for a loss), three sacks, three pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and two interceptions in 15 starts. Kendricks's overall PFF defensive grade last season also ranked 14th out of 84 qualifying linebackers around the NFL.
Currently, Blake Cashman and Ivan Pace Jr. are Minnesota's starting inside linebackers, and most assume this is the pair that the team would like to enter the 2025 season with. So, if Kendricks is looking to continue his career in the league as a starter, then a return to the Vikings wouldn't be a good decision.
However, if he's just interested in returning to Minnesota and helping them in any way possible, even in some sort of situational role, then it might be worth something worth exploring.
The Vikings already know how great of a leader Kendricks is, so he would definitely be a great addition to the locker room in that aspect. It would all just depend on what he's looking to do at this point in his pro career, and if he's fine with not being a starter, then, at the very least, Minnesota should see if a reunion is something that can actually happen before the start of the 2025 season.
