Earlier this summer, former Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl defensive end Everson Griffen revealed that, at the age of 38, he would like to make a return to the NFL.
The likelihood of that happening wasn't very high to begin with, but now it's going to be even lower.
According to jailroster.hennepin.us, Griffen was arrested by Minnesota State Patrol early Wednesday morning and booked in a Hennepin County jail for failing to comply and for violating a restraining order. Griffen was released from jail at 6:52 p.m. CST.
This comes after Griffen was just arrested in July for operating a vehicle without an ignition-interlock device, which was a violation of the probation he received as a result of a DWI arrest in 2024.

Griffen's behavior over the last few years has caused a significant amount of concern for his family and for those who used to root for him when he stepped on the field for multiple seasons with the Vikings.
Those concerns are only going to continue based on some of the reported details of his arrest on Wednesday.
According to WCCO's Guy Still, a Minnesota State Trooper reportedly used a taser on Griffen after the former Minnesota pass rusher was walking on Interstate Highway 394 near downtown Minneapolis early Wednesday morning and "refused to comply with commands to leave the road."
Griffen has been arrested multiple times since 2023, including twice for DWI within the span of 12 months. Wednesday's arrest is just another chapter in what has been a turbulent life for the former Vikings defender after his final season in the NFL in 2021.

Before his time in the league even came to an end, Griffen had multiple struggles with his mental health that even resulted in him having to miss games. In 2021, he revealed that he is bipolar and said that things started to get out of control after his mother passed away in 2012.
More recently, Griffen shared in early July that he was approaching a year of sobriety from drugs and alcohol. It definitely seemed like he was enjoying a much healthier lifestyle after his DWI arrests in 2023 and 2024.
But after these two most recent arrests, it's fair to wonder if Griffen is getting the necessary help to deal with his bipolar disorder and his addictions. Two arrests since July would suggest that he's not, and if that's the case, then something needs to be done before things take a turn for the absolute worst.
