This Justin Jefferson idea is so bad it almost feels like a joke

This time of year is always interesting. The idea of landing a top talent during the 2026 NFL Draft has to have front offices around the league scurrying to do their research and assemble their big boards with the three-day event just around the corner.

That also means speculation is in full force. Mock drafts are abundant this time of year, and many experts have their idea of what the Vikings should do to improve their roster for the upcoming season, as well as many years down the road.

However, not every idea is a good one. While they can be great for interaction and getting conversations started, some concepts are better left unsaid unless they actually happen for fans to pick apart.

The idea of the Minnesota Vikings trading Justin Jefferson to move up in the 2026 NFL Draft is ridiculous

Recently, ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio offered a unique idea for how the Minnesota Vikings can maneuver during the 2026 NFL Draft to land Doak Walker Award-winning running back Jeremiyah Love out of Notre Dame.

"One of the things that Kevin O'Connell told us in Arizona a couple of weeks ago, [the Vikings] learned down the stretch how to win without a passing game.

And he's been so wired to pass, pass, pass, pass, pass.

Great way, great way to take pressure off your quarterback if you bring in your next Adrian Peterson. And that's one thing my son's been saying for a couple of years now, the Vikings desperately need a great running back.

I mean, Aaron Jones is good, not great.

Jordan Mason, is that his name?

Yeah, the guy with the 49ers. The guy they traded with the 49ers for. A lot of high hopes, but it did not [go well]. They need somebody great.

That may be too high to come up, and who knows what you'd have to give up to get him. Maybe you have to send Justin Jefferson to Arizona to get him.

But you know what? At this point, I love Justin Jefferson. This feels even more blasphemous than making an AI version of myself as Jesus and claiming it was a doctor later. But I would do Justin Jefferson for Jeremiah Love."

Love is expected to be a top-10 pick during the draft, so if the Vikings are serious about acquiring him, they would need some heavy-duty firepower to move that far up from their No. 18 pick that the team currently holds.

Florio mentioned that Minnesota was able to find some success last season without a dangerous passing attack and that the team should look to improve the running back position to be less reliant on yards through the air.

This is an interesting theory since he would be fine with the purple and gold offering superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson to move up to draft Jeremiyah Love, essentially moving the offensive focus to a ground attack.

Signing Kyler Murray for this season should already have signaled that Minnesota wants to rebuild its passing attack rather than minimize it. Not only that, but taking a great weapon like Jefferson away from a franchise that is still trying to find its offensive identity seems like a massive mistake.

Not only is it a baffling idea, but it is a massive gamble. The Minnesota Vikings already know what they have in Justin Jefferson, but they would select Jeremiyah Love during the 2026 NFL Draft, hoping he can be a game-changer on offense. If that doesn't work out, it would set the franchise back many years.
