Before officially joining the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this week, former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins had a conversation with seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady that essentially made it an easy decision to head to Sin City.

During an appearance on NFL Network's "Good Morning Football" show on Wednesday, Cousins shared how a recent FaceTime call with Brady, who is a minority owner of the Raiders, eventually led to him agreeing to a contract with Las Vegas.

"I texted him [and] asked him to call me when he could, and he actually FaceTimed me [while] I was at youth baseball practice.

So, I stepped away and just FaceTimed with Tom for a minute just to kind of get on the same page and understand his vision for the organization, what he saw up ahead, and if I would be a good fit for it or not.

I got off the call, and I called my wife. I said, 'That was a really life-giving call with Tom.'

He gets it. He's been where I've been, and then some. He understands what it needs to look like [and] what it will look like.

I felt really like a shot in the arm after talking to him, and I felt like that was a big nudge for me to come to Vegas."

Tom Brady helped convince former Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins to sign with the Las Vegas Raiders

Now, his chat with Brady wasn't the only reason why Cousins decided to sign with the Raiders this offseason. But it certainly didn't hurt.

It definitely helped that Las Vegas was willing to make a nice addition to Cousins' bank account as well.

Despite the fact that he will be turning 38 in August and his teams have only won 16 of his last 30 starts, the Raiders were still willing to give him a contract that includes $20 million in fully guaranteed money.

Oddly enough, Cousins' new deal with Las Vegas will also move him past Brady on the NFL's all-time career earnings list. Heading into the 2025 season, Matthew Stafford and Aaron Rodgers are the only players in the history of the league to make more money in their careers than the former Vikings quarterback.

Brady and the Raiders are hoping that giving Cousins his latest payday will result in him helping the team turn things around next season after finishing the 2025 campaign with a miserable 3-14 record.
