After Minnesota Vikings quarterbacks J.J. McCarthy, Sam Howell, and Brett Rypien all got their shots to play in Saturday's preseason win over the Houston Texans, Max Brosmer entered the game midway through the fourth quarter for the purple and gold.

In his first-ever NFL in-game action, Brosmer made a number of impressive plays in front of a crowd inside U.S. Bank Stadium that used to cheer him on down the road less than a year ago during his final college season at the University of Minnesota.

The former Golden Gopher immediately led the Vikings on a scoring drive once he took over under center, which was capped off by the rookie quarterback throwing a three-yard touchdown during a 4th-and-goal situation from Houston's three-yard line.

Following Minnesota's victory on Saturday, McCarthy shared how good it felt to watch Brosmer lead the team to a touchdown drive.

"[I was] so jacked up. That guy works so hard. He's in the building all the time. You love seeing guys like that succeed.

...It was just awesome to see him go out there and shine because he puts in the work."

Overall, Brosmer completed 5-of-8 pass attempts for 48 yards and a touchdown. Obviously, his first offensive drive of the day was impressive, but his excitement was immediately brought back down to Earth during the Vikings' following offensive drive when he botched a snap and it led to a Texans defender coming up with a fumble recovery.

Looking ahead, Brosmer still has a little more than two weeks to prove to Minnesota's coaching staff that he is deserving of being one of the 53 players the team will keep on its roster when it comes time to make final cuts on August 26th.

McCarthy isn't expected to play in the Vikings' final two matchups of the preseason, so it's likely that Brosmer will see an increase in time on the field during those two games.

If he plays like he did on Saturday in those pair of exhibition contests, then he's probably going to make it very difficult for Minnesota not to keep him around when they have to construct their final 2025 roster.
