The Minnesota Vikings have a lot of positions they need to focus on after the season as they look to avoid repeating the failure of the 2025 season.

Minnesota is on a nice run to end the season, but sitting at 8-8 means they will miss the postseason. There will be questions about what to do at quarterback, but they may also need to address other positions.

Bleacher Report recently shared what the top draft positions of need are for the Vikings, including cornerback, safety, quarterback, defensive tackle, and linebacker. They specifically focused on the defensive tackle position, with Texas Tech defensive lineman Lee Hunter being one of the top draft fits for the Vikings.

"It's been a while since defensive tackles were discussed for the Vikings, and the defense could afford to add some youth to the position group.

Also, Minnesota heads into the weekend ranking 24th in the NFL by allowing 127.6 rushing yards per game, according to Team Rankings, and the Texas Tech product above can help solve that problem."

Brian Flores might be able to get behind coming back if he knows the Minnesota Vikings will land Lee Hunter

All the talk over the last few weeks has been about what will happen with Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores after his contract ends in the offseason. If Minnesota can convince him to come back, Flores would be thrilled to have a great defensive lineman like Hunter.

At over 320 pounds, Hunter is a monster in the middle who can help stop the run and is a sneaky-good pass rusher. This season for the Red Raiders, he has 34 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and a forced fumble in 13 games.

Minnesota needs to start thinking about the future of the defensive line with veterans like Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave on the back half of their careers.

The Vikings already have some great young talent playing well, with Jalen Redmond having a career year and Levi Drake Rodriguez becoming more productive for the team.

Throw Hunter in the picture on the defensive line, and someone like Flores will be able to develop him into being a Pro Bowl-caliber talent.

Hunter is a nightmare to block for offensive linemen, and having him team up with Redmond would give the Vikings a strong defensive front for the next three to five years.

The Vikings are already a top-10 defensive unit in the NFL, and with some young talent and the retention of Flores, they have a chance to be even better in 2026 if a player like Hunter joins the roster.
