Vikings' QB trade options just got thinner, because why wouldn't they?

Apparently, one loss was all that was needed for some members of the Minnesota Vikings fan base to be immediately ready to turn Kyler Murray into the modern version of 2011 Donovan McNabb and want the team to make a deal before the upcoming trade deadline for someone else to be QB1 moving forward.

Vikings fans have their wish list of quarterbacks they believe would be an upgrade over Murray and his 4-1 record as the starter in Minnesota's last five games, and the members of this list range from guys like Justin Herbert to Kirk Cousins to Daniel Jones.

Due in part to a past with current Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores, Jacoby Brissett was a signal-caller that some mentioned as a possible trade target for Minnesota this year. However, Brissett will reportedly be suiting up in a different shade of purple in the very near future.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Media's Ian Rapoport on Wednesday, the Arizona Cardinals have agreed to a trade that is expected to send Brissett to the Baltimore Ravens at some point this upcoming weekend.

The Ravens just lost Tyler Huntley to a season-ending turf toe injury, and Lamar Jackson could also be done for the rest of the 2026 campaign since he suffered a thumb injury this past Sunday that needs to be surgically repaired.

Baltimore is sitting with a 4-4 record after the first eight weeks of the season, and apparently, they're hoping Brissett can either lead them into the playoffs or at least try to keep them afloat until Jackson is able to return from his thumb injury.

Which QBs are left for the Minnesota Vikings to trade for with Jacoby Brissett no longer an option?

The list of quarterbacks that the Vikings could potentially trade for before next week's deadline was already small, but the Brissett news definitely made it even smaller.

Herbert, Cousins, and Jones are still the most notable names that Minnesota fans likely wouldn't mind seeing the team acquire before the trade deadline. Other possible options could include Geno Smith of the New York Jets and Mac Jones of the San Francisco 49ers.

So, clearly, the list isn't that large, and what Nolan Teasley needs to figure out leading up to his first trade deadline as the Vikings' general manager is whether giving up future draft assets to acquire a quarterback who probably isn't the missing piece to winning a Super Bowl this season is even worth it.

The answer to that question seems like an obvious one, and it's not something that some Minnesota fans are likely going to be happy with.
