All eyes are in Indianapolis this week where the top prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft put their skills on display and meet with prospective teams in hopes of making their NFL dreams come true. The Minnesota Vikings are among the teams on hand to evaluate talent and prepare for the upcoming season.
The Vikings may only hold the rights to three picks in the upcoming draft, but that means it is more important than ever for general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah will need to make those selections count.
While there are some amazing prospects at positions of need for Minnesota, the team also needs to do its due diligence when it comes to evaluating as many of the potential stars the 2025 NFL Draft has to offer.
Minnesota Vikings raise eyebrows with report of unexpected prospect meeting at the 2025 Combine
It wouldn't be shocking to see the Minnesota Vikings checking out as many cornerbacks, running backs, and linemen as possible at the combine. But a recent report has the purple and gold checking out a prospect most fans wouldn't expect the team to be looking at.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler shared some of his observances from the 2025 NFL Combine in a recent article. In that piece, he mentioned that the Vikings met with an interesting player that would be shocking for Minnesota to select.
The report revealed that the Vikings met with Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward at the combine. It wouldn't be shocking if the 22-year-old quarterback is the No. 1 overall pick in the draft considering his talent and position.
Minnesota holds the No. 24 overall pick in the draft. It is highly unlikely Cam Ward falls to the Vikings at that spot considering how many teams will be looking to select a quarterback at the 2025 NFL Draft.
Not only that, but the Vikings have J.J. McCarthy on their roster. Minnesota used the No. 10 overall pick on the National Champion quarterback from Michigan in the 2024 NFL Draft and haven't been able to get him on the field in the regular season because of a knee injury.
It is unlikely the Minnesota Vikings are second-guessing anything with McCarthy that would make them look like they would draft a quarterback in the first round since they haven't seen what he can do. That makes the interview with Cam Ward at the combine even more interesting.
