Going into the 2026 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings were still in need of finding a reliable replacement for Jalen Nailor as the team's No. 3 wide receiver to help make life easier for new quarterback Kyler Murray next season.
Well, the Vikings didn't fill that need with any draft selections, but they quickly did after the annual event, as Minnesota has reportedly agreed to a one-year contract with free-agent receiver Jauan Jennings, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday.
Jennings traveled to the Twin Cities and met with the Vikings last Tuesday, and the meeting clearly went well, as the veteran pass-catcher will now suit up in purple for the upcoming season.
With the San Francisco 49ers last year, Jennings caught 55 passes for 643 yards and nine touchdowns in 15 games, which led all receivers on the team.
Minnesota Vikings add veteran WR Jauan Jennings to the mix
Jennings entered the league back in 2020 after San Francisco selected him with a seventh-round draft pick. He spent the majority of his rookie year on the 49ers' practice squad, but in 2021, he accumulated 24 catches for 282 yards and five touchdowns in 16 games.
That level of production is what San Francisco got from Jennings during his next two seasons with the franchise. Then, in 2024, he had a bit of a coming-out party when he finished the season with 77 receptions for 975 yards and six touchdowns.
So in the last two years, Jennings has hauled in a total of 132 passes for 1,618 yards and 15 scores. That is an impressive amount of production for a player who is going to be Minnesota's WR3 behind Jordan Addison and Justin Jefferson.
His arrival is great news for Murray and the rest of the Vikings offense, since now they are no longer one injury away from Tai Felton or Myles Price taking over as the team's No. 2 receiver next season.
