The Minnesota Vikings still have some position groups that need assistance to come from outside the franchise.

At cornerback, there are a lot of questions about whether the group will do well despite Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores coaching the unit to rank second in the NFL in passing yards allowed with 158.5 yards per game.

Bleacher Report's Moe Moton might have the answer to the cornerback concerns with a recent trade idea: the Vikings sending a late 2027 draft pick to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for cornerback Kristian Fulton.

"Aside from Byron Murphy Jr., the Vikings' cornerback group is highly questionable with Isaiah Rodgers and James Pierre in line for big roles.

Rodgers had a decent 2025 campaign, allowing an 88.2 passer rating in coverage. Pierre only has 13 career starts.

Minnesota should add veteran insurance to cover the boundary when Murphy lines up in the slot. Fulton could be serviceable in that role.

Last year, he only appeared in eight games but allowed a solid 81.7 passer rating in coverage. The 27-year-old may be behind L'Jarius Sneed and Nohl Williams on the Chiefs' depth chart.

With 53 career starts, Fulton could take on a prominent role on the perimeter in nickel packages or provide quality depth."

Minnesota Vikings trading for Kristian Fulton would change their defense dramatically

Fulton is an interesting player that the Vikings could get the best out of if he plays in Minnesota. Last season with the Chiefs, he dealt with an ankle injury that sidelined him for some games, but he was also a healthy scratch in multiple games.

In eight games, he racked up 16 tackles and six pass deflections, while allowing a 55.6 percent completion rate.

He had been a full-time starter over the last five years, with four of those years with the Tennessee Titans and one with the Los Angeles Chargers.

He's only nabbed five interceptions in his 65-game career, but has allowed over a 63% completion rate in only two of those seasons, with three of them under 60 percent.

Adding Fulton would give the Vikings the cornerback depth they need. Rodgers had some nice moments last year, but really tailed off late in the season.

Pierre had a strong 2025 campaign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, posting the second-highest overall grade from Pro Football Focus with an 86.8.

There are already enough concerns about the Vikings' defensive line, and with rookies Caleb Banks and Domonique Orange making their debuts, Fulton would give them peace of mind with the depth at cornerback.

It's not clear whether he would end up starting for Minnesota, but if anyone gets hurt at any of the corner positions, he would be ready to jump in.

It'll be interesting to see if the Vikings actually consider a potential trade for someone in the secondary, but Fulton could help out.
