With the 2026 NFL Draft coming to a close on Saturday, what better time than now to start thinking about who the Minnesota Vikings will select with their top pick in next year's draft, right?

Well, whether we like it or not, people are already making their predictions for the 2027 NFL Draft, and in a way-too-early 2027 mock from Saturday Blitz's Nicholas Rome, he has the Vikings selecting current Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss with the 12th overall pick next year.

"12. Minnesota Vikings: Trinidad Chambliss - QB - Ole Miss

Even if Kyler Murray is the answer for the Vikings, he can leave in free agency, creating a hole again at Quarterback. Ole Miss star Trinidad Chambliss burst onto the scene after Austin Simmons' injury to become arguably the best quarterback in the Country.

If Chambliss entered the 2026 NFL Draft, he could've been a 1st Round pick, but he should only improve his stock this season."

As Rome points out, even if Kyler Murray performs well with Minnesota next season, he could still leave for another team in free agency in 2027 since he has a no-tag clause in the contract he signed.

If Murray left, most would assume that the Vikings would turn back to J.J. McCarthy with the hope that things would go differently than they did last season. But in this 2027 mock, Minnesota essentially puts an end to the McCarthy experiment and starts from scratch with Chambliss.

Chambliss is an interesting prospect, as he spent the first four years of his college career at Ferris State, a Division II school. Then he transferred to Ole Miss before the 2025 season, and it turned out to be a great decision for the young signal-caller.

In 15 games with the Rebels last year, Chambliss completed 66.1 percent of his passes for 3,937 yards, 22 touchdowns, and only three interceptions, in addition to rushing for 527 yards and another eight scores.

He's a little on the smaller side at 6-feet tall and 205 pounds. But if the Vikings are able to be successful on offense with Murray running the show next season, who is only 5-foot-10, then they would probably be more open to drafting someone like Chambliss in 2027.
