Quite a few NFL teams are seeking a starting quarterback for the 2026 season, and there are some interesting options. The Minnesota Vikings signed former Arizona Cardinals passer Kyler Murray this offseason, but several other franchises are still looking for their quarterback.

Although the Vikings seem ready for the upcoming season at the quarterback position with Kyler Murray, J.J. McCarthy, Carson Wentz, and Max Brosmer, it will be interesting to see where some of the other big-name passers will end up in 2026.

A prominent NFL analyst suggests the Pittsburgh Steelers acquire former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins over Aaron Rodgers in 2026.

Two of the most notable quarterbacks who are available are Aaron Rodgers and former Minnesota Vikings starter Kirk Cousins. Cousins' time with the Atlanta Falcons has come to an end, but the 37-year-old passer might not be done in the league.

There were some rumblings of the Vikings having potential interest in a reunion with Cousins or possibly pursuing Aaron Rodgers, but the team decided to go a different direction when they signed Kyler Murray after Arizona released him.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are in a tough situation after being a playoff team in 2026. After a year with Aaron Rodgers behind center, they find themselves in a situation where they need to lock down a quarterback for 2026.

Interestingly, NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah shared on the Football America! podcast that he has a preference for the Steelers, and his suggestion might surprise some fans who think running it back with Rodgers is the best move.

"I would take Kirk Cousins over (Aaron) Rodgers."

Either of those quarterbacks should be considered a stop-gap passer who doesn't offer long-term stability, but a solid roster and last year's success could make it an appealing stop for a passer in the twilight of his career.

Kirk Cousins spent six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. While there, he started 88 games, where he passed for 23,265 yards, 171 touchdowns, and 66 interceptions. His time with the Falcons was less impressive, but he still has enough gas in the tank to help a quarterback-needy team win football games.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a tough decision to make, but they should target one of these experienced quarterbacks to lead the team during the 2026 NFL season. Whether they choose Kirk Cousins or Aaron Rodgers, they should do fine in a competitive AFC North division.
