Earning individual accolades in the NFL can be difficult. Several notable Minnesota Vikings players have won league-wide awards, earned a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and been enshrined in the team's Ring of Honor, but some individuals deserve a spot among the franchise's elite contributors.

For some Vikings players, the adoration of fans and love of the game can be enough but others feel so connected to a team that they desire a deeper affiliation to the team to cement their place in franchise history.

Notable former Minnesota Vikings QB campaigning to make team's Ring of Honor

Former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Tommy Kramer thanked fans who supported his bid to enter the team's Ring of Honor and some fans even launched a petition to keep the movement's momentum going.

Tommy Kramer has a great argument for a spot in the Vikings Ring of Honor. He is second all-time in passing yards with the franchise at 24,775 behind only Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Fran Tarkenton.

A first-round pick of the Vikings in the 1977 NFL Draft, the former Rice quarterback was selected No. 27 overall and spent 13 seasons in Minnesota where he started 110 games. He was named All-Pro Second Team and made the Pro Bowl in 1986

Kramer was an exciting player. He led the league in passing yards in 1986, a year where he also brought home the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year award, adding to his legacy in Minnesota sports history.

Perhaps Tommy Kramer's most notable play was The Miracle at the Met. In one of the most exciting games in Vikings history, Kramer led a comeback when down 9-23 against the Cleveland Browns in Week 15 of the 1980 NFL season.

In that game, Kramer made two improbable touchdown passes to wide receiver Ahmad Rashad in the final two minutes. The game's final play was a Hail Mary throw that was hauled in with one hand to complete the comeback in front of fans at Metropolitan Stadium in Minnesota.

The story of the Minnesota Vikings can't be told without including Tommy Kramer. For that reason, fans should consider taking a look at the petition shared by Kramer and consider signing it. Plus, fans who aren't familiar with his play should definitely look up some of his highlights or at least watch that amazing comeback against the Browns in 1980.
