As they continue to prepare for the 2026 season, the Minnesota Vikings announced a new addition to the roster on Thursday with the signing of former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Isaiahh Loudermilk.

In a recent chat with The Viking Age, Still Curtain's Tommy Jaggi shared some insight about what the Vikings could be getting with the addition of Loudermilk on Thursday.

"Isaiahh Loudermilk is a tall, gritty defensive lineman with five years of experience as a rotational defender. He can work his way onto a D-line rotation for run-support, but with just one sack and one tackle for a loss in sixty career games, Loudermilk offers next to nothing as a pass rusher.

Despite playing 844 defensive snaps during his Steelers tenure, some of his best work comes on special teams, where he's logged 363 snaps over five years. Loudermilk works on the field goal unit, where he has blocked two kicks."

After a successful college career at Wisconsin, the 6-foot-7 (yes, 6-foot-7), 293-pound Loudermilk was selected by the Steelers in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

He made a solid impact during his rookie season with Pittsburgh with 23 tackles, three pass deflections, and one sack in 15 games. But since then, he was never able to develop into anything more than a rotational member of the Steelers' defensive line during his tenure with the franchise, as he only has 63 total tackles in his entire NFL career.

Last season, Loudermilk was only able to appear in two games due to an ankle injury that he suffered in Pittsburgh's Week 2 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

As Jaggi mentioned, his biggest impact on the Vikings could be felt on special teams. With a wingspan over 80 inches, Loudermilk could be a valuable asset for Minnesota's field-goal unit in 2026.

Improving the defensive line has clearly been a priority for the Vikings this offseason, and at the very least, Thursday's signing of Loudermilk is just a continuation of that effort to improve the position group.
