Vikings takeaway No. 3

The run defense still needs a lot of work.

Through the first five weeks, the Minnesota Vikings allowed the second-highest completion percentage in the league while allowing the ninth-fewest passing yards. While that's a strange statistic and the Bears completed 67 percent of their passes, that's not where the most damage was done.

Despite not having their top rushing options available, the Bears ran all over the Vikings, In 36 rushing attempts, they gained 162 yards and scored a touchdown on the ground. That number could have been even worse if Justin Fields hadn't exited the game with an injury.

Minnesota has been vulnerable on the ground this season, allowing 112.3 rushing yards per game. The Vikings will face teams with much more intimidating offensive lines and running backs this season, making this situation even scarier.

Adjustments need to be made to how the Minnesota Vikings defend the run in order to be successful. They can't allow teams to run all over them, winning the time of possession, and expect to win games this season.
