Looking back at their entire existence, what have been some of the most difficult losses by the Minnesota Vikings during their appearances in the playoffs?

The Minnesota Vikings posted a 13-3 record in 2022 with the help of the NFL’s eighth-best offense. Kirk Cousins, Justin Jefferson, K.J. Osborn, Adam Thielen, T.J. Hockenson, Dalvin Cook and friends had several close games that ultimately went their way in the end.

Unfortunately, the Minnesota defense was one of the worst in the NFL in 2022, giving up 25 points per game, which ranked 28th in the league.

That imbalance reared its ugly head in the Wild Card round of the 2022 playoffs when the 9-7-1 New York Giants came to U.S. Bank Stadium and upset the Vikes by a final score of 31-24.

Assuming Minnesota’s free-agent signings and draft picks shore up position holes and a leaky defense, the organization should return to the playoffs in 2023.

Once again, Vikings fans will beg, hope, and plead for the franchise to win its first-ever Super Bowl this year. If not, 2023 may be yet another disappointment in a long line of postseason letdowns in Minnesota’s history.

Here’s hoping the current iteration of the Vikings can avoid this list of the 10 most agonizing playoff losses in team history, which begins with a difficult loss to a non-divisional rival.
