Top 10 sleepers for the Vikings heading into the 2023 NFL Draft
By Darcy Weiss
Jaquelin Roy - DL (LSU)
2022 Stats:
- 49 tackles
- 3.5 tackles for loss
- 0.5 sacks
- 1 fumble recovery
Jaquelin Roy has already displayed his potential as a pass rusher and possesses the athleticism to follow through on his strategy, despite his limited starting experience at LSU.
While projected to be picked on the third day of the NFL Draft, he could prove to be a valuable starter, given his potential. Despite concerns about his consistency and lackluster performance at the NFL combine, Roy's powerful lower body and relentless motor give him an edge in winning battles on the line.
However, he still has room for improvement as both a run defender and pass rusher. Roy needs to work on being faster and more decisive in shedding offensive linemen and dismantling blocks, as he tends to get caught on blocks for too long, compromising his positioning and ability to hold his ground.
Additionally, he needs to work on his reaction time to play-action fakes, or quarterback scrambles outside the pocket, allowing him to maintain his forward momentum.
