Greedy Williams - CB
During their first two games of 2023, Minnesota’s secondary had a rough time against opposing receivers. The Eagles' DeVonta Smith blew past coverage to the tune of four receptions, 131 yards, and one touchdown.
In Week 1, Tampa Bay’s Mike Evans had six catches for 66 yards and one score. Current Vikings corners Akayleb Evans and rookie Mekhi Blackmon are young and still learning. Minnesota could benefit from veteran corner help.
Greedy Williams was selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. He spent the next four years with the club.
After starting 12 games as a rookie in 2019, Williams missed 2020 due to a nerve injury in his shoulder. In 2021, he played in all 16 games for Cleveland and started nine while pulling down two interceptions, breaking up 10 passes, and making 41 combined tackles.
The following year, Williams suffered from a nagging hamstring injury and played in 11 games as a reserve for the Browns.
After being released by the team following the 2022 season, Williams was signed by Philadelphia in March of this year. He then lost out to a crowded Eagles secondary room and was released in August.
Williams (an All-American and two-time, first-team All-SEC at LSU) would be a solid player to sign with the Vikings on a one-year deal. He still has plenty of miles on him, good NFL experience, and can provide more depth for Minny at a pivotal position.
