Bust No. 2

Brian Asamoah - ILB

The Vikings selected Brian Asamoah in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The undersized but speedy linebacker was seen as a guy who could give special teams a boost as a rookie, see spot duty on defense, and then compete for a starting job in 2023.

The rookie year kind of went to plan. Asamoah did play special teams and had a splashy play against the New York Giants during a Week 16 matchup, but since then he has disappeared.

He's been hurt on and off and that has forced him to miss some time. However, in a season where many predicted him to be a breakout player, he took a step backward.

Asamoah was beaten out by undrafted rookie Ivan Pace Jr. and was again delegated to special teams. He totaled just seven tackles in 2023 and now finds himself in jeopardy of being a roster cut in 2024.

Ivan Pace Jr. looks like a star in the making and the Vikings could look to resign Jordan Hicks. They could also add some depth at the position in the draft, and these moves will push Asamoah down the depth chart to the point where he's on the roster bubble. Maybe he hangs on for another season as a special teamer, but for a third-round choice that is a failure.
