Draft pick the Minnesota Vikings will regret No. 1

Mekhi Blackmon - CB (USC)

  • Selected: 102nd (3rd Round)
  • Consensus Big Board Ranking: 185th (6th Round)

Since Mekhi Blackmon was the final pick in the third round this year, it's fair to say that he was basically selected in the fourth round. But even the fourth round looks like a bit of a reach for the Vikings to use a pick on a prospect who was viewed by many draft experts as a sixth-round selection.

Sure, Blackmon has plenty of traits and skills that could end up making him successful in the NFL for multiple years. But there are also plenty of things to be concerned about when it comes to Minnesota's rookie cornerback.

For starters, his size (5-foot-11, 178 pounds) isn't going to do him any favors in the league. Blackmon's size likely played a significant part in him getting flagged for a total of seven penalties in 2022.

Blackmon's playing style has a feistiness to it, but that's something that could also end up creating a lot of problems for the young corner at the pro level.
