Reason No. 2

No more Ed Donatell

There's no question that in 2022, Ed Donatell had one of the worst seasons as a Vikings defensive coordinator in franchise history. Week in and week out, Donatell consistently made the opposing team's quarterbacks look like prime Joe Montana, and not once did he think to make any sort of adjustments.

Donatell was the opposite of a player's coach, as he blamed his players instead of his system during his weekly press conferences with the media. It is fair to say the best move Minnesota made in the 2023 offseason was getting rid of Vic Fangio's right-hand man.

Vikings fans should be ecstatic to have Brian Flores running the defense in 2023. The energy that his defense has been playing with in training camp this summer has been night and day to what it was in 2022.

You can ensure yourself that Minnesota's defense is going to improve from 2022 since they can't get much worse than what Donatell did in 2022. Even a small improvement in the defense from 31st overall to somewhere between 20 to 25 could be huge for this team's Super Bowl aspirations.
