Team No. 2

New England Patriots

After more than two decades, Bill Belichick is out, and Jerod Mayo is in as the head coach of the New England Patriots.

In addition to being the head coach of the Patriots, Belichick was also the team's general manager. So New England is going to have a bunch of new people making decisions for the franchise this year.

Currently, the Patriots are in possession of the third overall selection in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. Many assume New England will use the pick on a new quarterback, but with Mayo now leading the charge, could they potentially take a different approach with the selection?

What if the Patriots don't want to spend the next few seasons attempting to develop a young quarterback like they've been doing with Mac Jones? What if they would rather have a more proven commodity starting under center like Kirk Cousins?

If New England were to sign Cousins, then that would open up a whole bunch of new possibilities for what they could do with the No. 3 pick.

The Patriots could keep it and draft someone like former Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., or they could trade the selection to acquire some more picks to fill some of the other holes on their roster.

Tom Brady has been someone that Cousins has always admired during his tenure in the NFL. It seems safe to say that the current Vikings quarterback would jump at the opportunity to play for the franchise that was Brady's home for the majority of his pro career.
